They say a truly amazing teacher is hard to find and impossible to forget. Here are some memories of our treasured teachers.
They say a truly amazing teacher is hard to find and impossible to forget. Here are some memories of our treasured teachers.
My favourite teacher was Ms Vipula in Junior School and I absolutely loved Sr Monica.
“Our quality of education and exposure was a cut above… and the diction we own today is thanks to them.”
“Ms Vijaya Marthanda and Ms Matthews were my English teachers in high school and they passed on their love of English language and literature to me.”
“Jr School was something else! Strict, no nonsense and disciplined! Gamsie (Ms Matthews is still my favourite teacher.”
“I was punished so many times I knew every nook and cranny of the Sister’s office more than anyone!”
“Gamesie was our unsung superhero. In the rare days when I wear a sari I can barely walk but she and Ms Lima Rose taught us everything from March Past to Volleyball to Drill wearing saris.”
“Sr Ligori was dedicated when it came to teaching music though many couldn’t understand her accent. Years later, when I went to study in Canada, people were amazed that a brown girl from Chennai knew all the songs from Sound of Music, Oklahama, Fiddler on the Roof…”
“I still have old habits repeatedly drilled into us like keeping our knees together when bending to pick something and lady-like walk…”
“Any breach of discipline out and came the rulers and some could fling dusters with enviable accuracy!”
Sr Monica, Sr Annunciata and Sr Cabrini were the kindest nuns with hearts of gold. May God bless our lovely teachers and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
